Dallas County dominates Sumter Central 52-6 in Homecoming victory

Dallas County’s football team came out strong in their Homecoming game Friday night and never looked back, defeating Sumter Central 52-6 in a dominant performance.

During halftime Homecoming festivities, Ashlynn Griffin was named Homecoming Queen and Gabriel Sharpe was named Homecoming King.

Dallas County opened the game with the first touchdown of the night. The extra-point attempt was no good, but the Hornets quickly took control. After recovering a fumble by Sumter Central, Dallas County added another touchdown to take an early lead.

Sumter Central later blocked a Dallas County field-goal attempt, but the Hornets continued to control the game. Dallas County led 18-0 in the second quarter and extended its advantage to 24-0 heading into halftime.

Dallas County continued its offensive attack in the second half, scoring a touchdown to open the third quarter. The Hornets added another touchdown later in the quarter, pushing the score to 38-0 entering the fourth quarter.

The Hornets continued to add to their lead in the final quarter. No. 8 Jakobe Cole scored another touchdown to make it 44-0, followed by another touchdown from No. 15 Jaiden Jackson. The extra-point attempt was no good, leaving Dallas County with a 52-0 advantage.

Sumter Central finally found the end zone late in the game, but it was not enough to slow down the Hornets.

Final Score: Dallas County 52, Sumter Central 6.

Dallas County (3-2) and Sumter Central (0-5) have bye weeks next week. 

For Homecoming, the representatives are: ninth grade, Ah’nyla Davis and Kafabian Wilson; 10^thgrade, Caleb Robinson and Riniyah Woods; 11^th grade, Adriana Brewer and Brianna Whitlow; 12^thgrade queen, Ashlynn Griffin and Kaitlyn Davis; 12^th grade king, Kendrick Murphy and Gabriel Sharpe.
