Brenham senior running back Jakoby Dixon made his college choice official on Sunday as he committed to the University of Oklahoma.
Dixon’s commitment was announced with social media graphics made by Rivals national recruiting and transfer portal reporter Hayes Fawcett.
Dixon chose Oklahoma over in-state schools Texas and Texas A&M, which are also in the Southeastern Conference with the Sooners. He also chose the Sooners over Oregon and Ohio State.
Dixon racked up 3,429 rushing yards during his freshman and sophomore seasons in Brenham, putting him third on the Cubs’ all-time rushing list. He earned district MVP honors in both of his previous Brenham seasons.
His 2,248-yard sophomore season in 2024 is fourth on the Cubs’ single-season rushing list. Dixon also recorded three of Brenham’s top eight performances on its all-time single-game rushing list in 2024.
Dixon was considered one of the best running backs in the state prior to the 2025 season with Dave’s Campbells Texas Football naming him the Class 5A Preseason Offensive Player of the year. However he left the Brenham program weeks ahead of the 2025 season to join the John Cooper School program.
Dixon will make his Brenham return in 2026. He was named the Top Cub after a series of running and lifting tests prior to Brenham’s spring football program in April.
During Brenham’s spring program, Cub coach Danny Youngs told The Banner-Press that Dixon was working hard with a great attitude.
