Mizzou on Tuesday added three transfer-portal commitments and announced it had officially re-signed last season’s starting left tackle, Cayden Green.
Michigan defensive back and rising sophomore Elijah Dotson announced he will be a Tiger. The Detroit native played in seven games as a freshman, recording nine solo tackles and an interception.
Dotson joins former high school teammate and current Mizzou linebacker Jeremiah Beasley. The two played together at Belleville High in Michigan, winning a state title in 2022. Beasley was another Michigan commit out of high school, spending one year on the Wolverines roster before entering the portal and ending up in Columbia. With three years of eligibility remaining, Dotson is likely to be a key piece of the Tiger secondary.
The second commitment was UConn backup quarterback and rising senior Nick Evers. He has spent the last two seasons with the Huskies, recording 1,023 passing yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. Before arriving at UConn, he spent one season at Wisconsin, where did not see any action. Evers’ originally committed to Oklahoma out of high school, throwing only one pass as a Sooner.
He was a highly touted four-star prospect from Flower Mound, Texas, throwing for over 2,500 yards as a senior and 21 touchdowns. It is expected that Evers will add some depth and experience to a quarterback room now headlined by Ole Miss transfer Austin Simmons.
The second transfer portal commit happened Monday and was Houston linebacker and rising senior Cavan Tuley. The Tomball, Texas product recorded four tackles as a Cougar. Tuley was a mainstay of the Houston special teams rotation, playing all 111 of his snaps as a junior on kick returns, punt returns, coverages and extra points.
Tuley’s nickname was “Toolbox,” as he has so many tools you never know which one he will use. At Tomball High School, he was voted to the 2021 Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A second team as a senior thanks to 131 tackles.
He spent his first two years as a Cougar learning under Brian Early, who left Houston for his current position as the edges assistant coach for Missouri. Tuley will be a major addition to the Tigers’ special teams unit, which is looking for improvement heading into 2026.
The school also announced it had officially re-signed Green, who played left tackle primarily in 2025 and was voted to the All-SEC first team in his second season with the Tigers. Green played guard previously. He transferred from Oklahoma following the 2023 season.
Having Green return for his final season is a major boost for the Tigers and their new quarterback. While Green is skilled at both positions, there have been discussions of moving him to right tackle to protect lefty Simmons’ blind side.
