Mizzou women’s tennis announced its new head coach Robin Goodman on Tuesday. He will be the 13th head coach in the program’s history.

Goodman debuted in the Southeastern Conference last season at Tennessee as an associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, leading the Volunteers to a 8-7 finish in conference play. They were eliminated in the second round of the SEC Tournament by LSU, the same team that eliminated Mizzou.

“(Goodman) has built and elevated programs throughout his career, and his success developing student-athletes both on and off the court stood out throughout our search process,” Mizzou athletics director Laird Veatch said in the announcement.

Prior to his time in Knoxville, Goodman spent four seasons at Pacific, leading its men’s team to a program-high ITA rank of 47. He also has assistant coaching experience at New Mexico and Baylor.

As a player, the Cambridge, England, product graduated from Drake in 2004 after serving as team captain for two seasons.

Taking charge as Mizzou head coach will be another step up in Goodman’s career, but it’s a bet that the program is willing to make. After a lackluster season in which the Tigers failed to get any SEC wins, a change in command might be what it takes to step up their game.

“Missouri is a special place with tremendous potential, and I’m passionate about building this program the right way,” Goodman said. “The Southeastern Conference is the premier conference in college athletics, and we embrace the challenge and opportunity that comes with it.”

Goodman will be Mizzou’s first official head coach since Bianca Turati left in in 2025. Silvia Chinellato led the Tigers as an interim coach during the 2025-26 season.

It is unclear whether she’ll continue in the program, as Mizzou Athletics granted Goodman permission to determine his own staff.

Goodman will be formally introduced to fans at a public welcome event starting at 3 p.m. May 21 in the Columns Club at Memorial Stadium.
