The recruiting trail for Mizzou football continues to heat up, as the Tigers scored their first four-star prospect of the Class of 2027 in tight end Jack Brown, according to Rivals.com.
Brown, who plays at Francis Howell Central in Cottleville, is rated by 247Sports as the top recruit in the Class of 2027 in the state, marking the third time in the last four years the No. 1 in-state recruit has picked Mizzou. He is the first in-state prospect in the class to commit to MU and is listed by 247 as the No. 118 overall prospect in his class and the No. 6 overall tight end.
Brown is currently listed at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds heading into his senior season of high school. He received offers from a number of major programs throughout the country and, in November, released a final six of Mizzou, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas A&M, Illinois and Arizona State.
This marks the first tight end commitment under new position coach Alex Atkins, already making an impact in his first offseason with the Tigers. Brown is the fourth Mizzou commit for the Class of 2027, joining a trio of three-stars. The early commits have been focused on the offensive side of the ball, as Brown joins quarterback Braylen Warren and offensive tackle Lual Aleu. Safety Jabarri Lofton is the other commit.
There is plenty of room for Brown to receive reps early in his collegiate career, as both Brett Norfleet and Jordon Harris are expected to be out of eligibility following the 2026 season. However, the Tigers could retain four tight ends heading into 2027, including Jude James, who played at nearby Francis Howell.
