“I’m just excited. This year we have doubled the number of student-athletes that we have taken to the state in the past. I’m very excited about taking a long jumper this year in our first year of long jumping. I’m just excited and just speechless honestly. I’m also very proud of my coaches who volunteer.” - Katasha Turner
“I saw other people doing the long jump event and it looked fun. That’s when I decided to try it out. I feel really good about going to state. It was really a surprise to me because I didn’t expect to make it to the state in my first year. At the beginning of the year, people were jumping much further distances than me so I was really surprised.” Makiya Jones
“We got pretty close to our PR time in sectionals so I feel good about our chances in the state. We will be rejuvenated and we will have fresh legs going into state.” - Cameron Brown
Cornell Blevins attended the state games last year but didn’t compete. He says that that experience motivated him to get there this year.
The boys 4x4 relay team ran 3:37 in sectionals. The girls 4 x 4 relay team ran a personal best time of 4:27 in the sectionals.
The 2022 AHSAA State Track Championship will take place from May 5th through May 7th in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
