Selma High School’s track team competed in the AHSAA Class 5A state championship.
Makiyah Thomas finished #18 in the State of Alabama in the Long Jump event. She jumped a 13-11.50.
The girls 4x4 relay team, Zariah McCall, Jaleria Ervin, Arianna Rutledge, and Jayla Brown finished #7 in the State of Alabama. They also broke Selma High Schools current record with a time of 4:23.97. The previous record was 4:25.62 set by the 2017 4x4 relay team.
The Boys 4x4 team, Cornell Blevins, Cameron Brown, Latrell Dean, and Dakarii Nelson, placed #11 in Alabama with a time of 3:38.14. This team also holds the school record with a time of 3:36.06.
Jayla Brown finished 18 out of 24 in the 200m event with a time of 27.7. Dakarii Nelson finished 16 out of 24 in 200m race. He finished with a time of 23.03 which was his season best.
Coaches are Katasha Turner, Austin T. Williams, Kwantreyl McConico, Royce McKinney, Jaymin Thomas, Sgt. Acoff and Assistant Athletic Director Calvin Martinez Marshall.
