The Southside High School Panthers beat the Keith Bears 36-12 while in Orrville on Friday night.
Both teams started off slow as the first quarter ended at 0-0. The Panthers were able to get on the scoreboard first when JoDarius Hamilton blocked a punt, placing the Panthers in perfect scoring position. Jaibrien Gresham found the end zone for the touchdown and the extra two points, to give the Panthers the 8-0 lead at the end of halftime.
The Bears started off the half with a response when Jarius Sanders was able to put some points on the board for the Bears. Cedrick Simmons and Jaibrien Gresham was able to add some more points for the Panthers as well, to end the third quarter 16-6 in the Panthers favor.
The Bears made another attempt to catch the Panthers when Eric Hall was able to score for the Bears, but the Panthers offense took over in the fourth quarter with Kendrell Wilson Jr., Jaibrien Gresham and Raquez Broadnax, all adding points to the scoreboard for a 36-12 final.
The Panthers head coach Charles Moody stated, “We were just excited for the opportunity to play in another rivalry game! We really love the rivalry games! We didn’t play to our potential, but the effort was there! We just have to correct the mistakes and prepare for an undefeated Hale County as we continue our playoff push!”
The Panthers will play again at home next Friday night against Hale County High School at 7 p.m.
