Lannie's Bar-B-Q Spot is scheduled to reopen on Friday at its new location, more than a year after closing for renovations.
Owners of the popular restaurant in east Selma announced on social media they will open at 8 a.m., saying "We cannot wait to welcome you all back!"
Lannie's original building was badly damaged in the Jan. 12, 2023, tornado that hit Selma and the Hatcher family had been planning to remodel it for months before the storm. They decided to knock down the original landmark restaurant and build a new one.
The Hatcher family that owns the restaurant told the Selma Sun in March 2023 about their renovation plans and about how they took direct hit from the EF2 tornado that also wreaked havoc to the Hatcher relatives’ homes around the store.
