Members of the Selma High School 2025 Senior Football Class met in the school’s auditorium with family, friends and classmates on Tuesday to announce their official college decisions.

Each of them sat on a panel together and listened as different coaches from different sports spoke to them about success. Former Head Football Coach Leon Day, who led all five players for some time, was also present.

"God is amazing," he said. "And that probably would describe how I feel as well. It's an amazing feeling. I know what those young men had to endure to get to this point. What they had to persevere and overcome. And that's what I'm the most proud of."

During the ceremony, the big screen behind the players showcased video footage of some of their most memorable moments on the football field. As the recordings played on silent mode, each scholar introduced himself and announced the college they intend to attend. We caught up with them afterwards and asked how they felt in the moment.

Tyrone Sheppard said he chose a "good fit" for him. He says he will miss his friends. Kendarious White told us the vibe of an HBCU fits him and it "hits home" to him. Jarvarius Marks explained that his choice was because that particular school would help him "develop my game." He said the campus reminds him of home. Rian Woods said his college choice is a "good opportunity" for him and "a good environment." Tristen Wall chose where he is going because he said he "didn't want to be too far from home." He is only a little more than three hours away and looks forward to "the opportunity."

So, where are they going? When is the next signing day for Selma High athletics?

At the end of the ceremony, the student-athletes were asked to go ahead and sign their letter of intent. A copy was given to their family.

Tyrone, Kendarious, Jarvarius and Rian all chose Lane College located in Jackson, Tennessee. Tristen is heading to "The Sip." He chose Mississippi Community Christian College in Biloxi.

Interim Director Martina West indicated that the next signing date is tentatively set to take place on Awards Day, May 1. Confirmation and details will be shared with media.
