Southside High School's ROTC program recently got to participate in the military course at Marion Military Institute.

The students also got to hear from retired military officer Michael Durant, who paid a visit to MMI to deliver an address to the cadets and staff at the chapel.

Durant ran for Alabama governor and is a survivor of a Black Hawk helicopter crash that was among others shot down during the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. Read more about that here.
