The election for Selma City Council’s Ward 1 seat has been officially set for Dec. 8.
Residents in that Ward can qualify to run for the seat until Oct. 27 at 5 p.m., City Clerk Ivy Harrison said.
As of Thursday night, only one candidate has qualified and that is Denson Henry, member of the Henry Brick family.
The Ward 1 seat became open when the council removed councilman Troy Harvill in June because he missed most meetings since being reelected in the November election.
The City Council did not appoint a council member to replace Troy Harvill, who was removed in June after missing most meetings since being reelected last November.
Candidates running for the Ward 1 election can share campaign information by emailing platform details to news@blackbeltnewsnetwork.com
