Jeff Probst exclusively revealed to TV Insider that there was one final round of fan voting to take place before Survivor 50 ended. The category was revealed in the penultimate episode of the season on Wednesday, May 13, and it’s the return of the Sia Fan Favorite prize. The winner will be revealed in the Survivor 50 live finale on May 20 on CBS. Probst announces the vote in the video above.
CBS made the following announcement during Survivor 50 Episode 12: “Since 2016, global pop star and Survivor super fan Sia has personally awarded over $1 million to the players who have moved her most. In the spirit of Season 50, which has featured key elements of the game voted on by the fans, Sia is turning that honor over to viewers, empowering them to choose who will receive the $100,000 Sia Fan Favorite prize during the live finale.”
Voting opened at the conclusion of tonight’s (May 13) episode and will close Wednesday, May 20, at 12:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. ET. Fans can cast their vote at Survivor50CBS.votenow.tv.
From 2016 to 2024, Sia would award her favorite players of the season with cash prizes. To honor Survivor 50‘s theme, In the Hands of the Fans, she’s letting fans decide who will receive the $100,000 reward.
Some cast members this season, such as Rick Devens, have already won the Sia prize in the past, but the Survivor Fan Favorite award predates Sia’s involvement and occasionally included more than just money. Past winners from Survivor 50 are Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth.
The Survivor 50 live finale is a three-hour event that kicks off at 8/7c on CBS. Fans had the chance to win tickets to the show, filming live on the Paramount lot in Los Angeles, California. In the Hands of the Fans voting began while Survivor 48 was airing. Among the key elements fans voted on were “Idols or No Idols” and “Final Four Fire Making: Keep It or Lose It.”
Survivor has been renewed for Season 51, and the season is currently filming.
