The 2nd Annual Celebration of Women Shaping Our Community event will be held virtually on Tuesday, Oct. 20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
The event is hosted by the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Information. According to Executive Director Sheryl Smedley, it celebrates local women who contribute to the community.Â
"We are excited to honor women in business, education, community service, humanitarians, finance, and the arts, to name a few," she said in a message to media. "Many of these giants have walked silently for decades and this celebration will give honor where honor is well deserved."Â
Smedley called the first annual event "a huge success" with the support of locals, businesses and industries in the community.Â
Sponsorships are available. A Facebook page for the chamber can be seen here. Â
