The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS) Foundation has shared some updates about the ongoing progress of its construction in Demopolis.Â
The school's president, Dr. Jimmy Martin, is set to begin his role in the coming weeks while architects and engineers have presented draft renderings.Â
Construction is expected to begin this summer.Â
"We’ve worked closely with the leadership at the University of West Alabama to plan for our inaugural class while construction of the Demopolis campus is completed, and we continue to build new partnerships with stakeholders who care about the success of our school," said the update.Â
In the meantime ASHS will operate at the University of West Alabama as the Demopolis campus prepares for construction.Â
Interim President Rob Pearson reportedly appeared before the House Ways & Means Education Committee on April 9 to present an information report about progress.
The ASHS also hosted its second annual stakeholders’ reception to share information about design and construction, pathways and curriculum, and "other efforts to create a diverse base of financial support," the update said.Â
