A number of bills sponsored by Black Belt politicians passed in the Alabama Legislature during the week of April 23 to 25. 

The following were passed in the Alabama House, according to Alabama Reflector: 

HB 433 sponsored by Rep. Penni McClammy, D-Montgomery: Authorizing the Montgomery County sheriff to establish procedures for using a credit card for purchases.

HB 447 sponsored by Rep. A.J. McCampbell, D-Linden: Authoring the Marengo County sheriff to contract or enter into agreement with a private, public or governmental entity for the purpose of service of process, except warrants for arrests.

HB 432 sponsored by Rep. Kenyatté Hassell, D-Montgomery: the State Comptroller cannot deduct more than $300 per month from a state employee's salary for post-tax withholdings.

HB 210 sponsored by Rep. Reed Ingram, R-Pike Road: Allows students in the U.S. to attend an Alabama post-secondary institutions legal permission if they have applied for legal status. Additionally, they will be required to have attended high school for three years and have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.

HB 466 sponsored by Rep. Marcus Paramore, R-Troy: Revenue collected inside Troy is transferred to the city, and revenue collected outside corporate limits is transferred to Pike County.

HB 471 sponsored by Rep. Prince Chestnut, D-Selma: Authorizes electronic filing of business personal property tax returns at the Dallas County Tax Assessor and the Dallas County Tax Collector.

SB 240 sponsored by Sen. Will Barfoot, R-Pike Road: Expanding categories for involuntary commitment for the Department of Mental Health.

The following were passed in the senate: 

SB 329 sponsored by Sen. Will Barfoot, R-Pike Road: Entitles qualified candidates, principal campaign committees, and party executive committees to the lowest unit rates for advertisement on broadcast stations 45 days ahead of the primary and 60 days before the general election.

SB 315 sponsored by Sen. Bobby Singleton, D-Greensboro: Authorizing the Alabama Innovation Corporation to issue state matching capital to growth funds that have been certified under certain conditions.

SB 215 sponsored by Sen. Kirk Hatcher, D-Montgomery: Gives the mayor of Montgomery power to appoint members of the city airport authority after approval from the city council.

SB 216 sponsored by Sen. Kirk Hatcher, D-Montgomery: Provides members of the Montgomery City Council an increased allowance of $12,000 to start on Oct. 1, as well as an annual salary of $30,000 starting in the 2027 term.

SB 316 sponsored by Sen. Kirk Hatcher, D-Montgomery: Sets up procedures for the Montgomery County Sheriff to make purchases with a credit card.
