Students of the Black Belt Scholars STEM Summer Enrichment Camp visited the campus of Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) on July 6.

Participants totaled 190 students in 7th through 12th grades. In addition to WCCS they visited Craig Field, City Jet/Turbine Worx, Brown Chapel AME Church and Edmund Pettus Bridge.

“Our mission is to increase excitement and knowledge in STEM for youth in the Black Belt, especially in populations underrepresented in the STEM workforce. We are passionate about providing students with stimulating and challenging 'hands-on, mind-on' STEM experiences and activities,” said Alabama State Senator Bobby Singleton, Camp Founder.

This was the second annual event for the camp, taking place at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa with participants from other counties. Staff of the camp came from Hale, Greene, Sumter, and West Tuscaloosa.
