It will cost more to fill up your gas tank or rent a room in Camden. 

The Camden City Council increased the fuel tax by 3 cents and the lodging tax by 3% at its April 15 meeting. 

The south wastewater treatment plant is back in operation, and some sewer issues have been repaired, the council announced.

The council approved the Municipal Wastewater Pollution Prevention Program annual report for the north and south wastewater treatment plants. The MWPP report shows that the plants meet Alabama Department of Environmental Management standards. 

The council plans to repair fencing on the basketball court and remove the iron picnic tables. A new sign listing the park’s operating hours may be erected. 

Andrew Bartleson graduated from Selma Police Academy and will join Camden police force. The council has discussed beefing up the department since March.

The Camden City Council reviewed and signed their ethics forms.
