After the Morgan Academy varsity and junior varsity softball teams defeated Wilcox Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the varsity went on undefeated to win five straight games in the Morgan Classic Feb. 27-March 1 for an undefeated 11-0 record.
The junior varsity was 6-0 overall.
On the 25, the Morgan varsity defeated Wilcox 14-10.
“We had good pitching from Addison Bond,” said Morgan Academy assistant baseball coach Chuck Oates. “We had a great night at the plate from several girls, Kenzie Oates, Lydia Smitherman, Cassidy Peal and more.”
The junior varsity beat Wilcox 16-2. “We had good pitching from all three pitchers,” Oates said. “Cassidy Peal started the game, M. A. Bond and Avery Stone finished.”
Oates said, “We had great night at the plate with a slew of Senators, Georgia Sams, Addie Ozment, A.L. Lee, M.A Bond, Kenzie Oates, Peal and Mckenzie Britt.”
On Thursday and Friday, Feb. 27-28, the Morgan varsity went undefeated in the Morgan Classic with five straight wins.
The Lady Senators varsity defeated Wilcox 6-0, Snook. 5-1, Snook 3-2, Russell Christian 11-7 and
Russell Christian 14 -0.
“We had great pitching from E. G. Mims and M. A. Bond,” Oates said. “E. G. Mims pitched a no hitter in the championship game.” And he said, “We had our bats really going with great hitting from Addison Bond, Kenzie Oates, A. L. Lee, Peal and Brynlee Chappelle.”
