The Selma Saints gave their fans plenty to cheer about Friday night, rolling to a 36–10 win over Montevallo in their homecoming game at Selma Heights Stadium.

Selma took control early, scoring in every quarter and holding Montevallo to just 10 points. The Saints led 8–3 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 16–3 at halftime before pulling away in the second half with a 14-point third quarter.

The victory capped a festive evening that included the crowning of Homecoming King Kristan Moore and Queen Jakira Tolbert. First Runners-Up Camron Benjamin and Ma’Kiyah Jones, along with Second Runners-Up Robert Lytle and Rod’Neisha Parker, rounded out the court.

Head coach Marcus Gardner said the win reflected his team’s growth and resilience midway through the season.

“It feels good to see our guys develop,” he said. “This is the second half of the season, and we’ve been telling them this is the first round of the playoffs for us. We’ve got to control our own destiny as much as we can.”

He credited the Saints’ improvement to their ability to stay focused and patient through early challenges.

“It might not be right in the first half, but if they keep developing and buying in, they get rewarded for it,” he said.

The Saints will take a bye week next week before returning to action, giving players a chance to rest and continue developing for the final stretch of the season.
