The Dallas County Democratic Executive Committee will hold a forum and debate for council, mayor and school district candidates in the 2025 municipal runoff election on Sept. 17.

“This Run-off Forum is not only an opportunity for candidates to share their vision for Selma, it is a call to action for our community," Collins Pettaway III, Chairman of the Dallas County Democratic Executive Committee.

"The race has now been narrowed to two candidates in each contest, and this is the moment for voters to raise their voices, ask the hard questions, and take an active role in shaping the leadership and future of our city."

The event will feature: Johnny “Skip” Moss (Mayoral Candidate), Charles Bennett (City Council Ward 1), Timfreit Drane (City Council Ward 5), Ashley Ervin (City Council Ward 6), Atkin Jemison (City Council Ward 6), Britney Houser (School Board District 4), and Dr. Tanya S. Miles (School Board District 4).

“Our Committee believes that democracy thrives when people are fully informed and fully engaged," said Abina D. Billups, JD, MBA, Vice Chairwoman of the Dallas County Democratic Executive Committee, who will also moderate the Mayoral Debate.

"With turnout in the primary municipal elections lower than expected, this forum becomes a vital bridge—giving citizens the knowledge, the access, and the energy they need to move from spectators to participants. We are determined to connect voters to this process and inspire them to head to the polls to select the leaders who will carry Selma forward."

The event will be held at the Carl Morgan Convention Center on 211 Washington Street at 5 p.m.
