Demopolis City Hall

Demopolis will see a runoff for the only race on the ballot Tuesday.

Current District 3 City Councilman David McCants will face Luke Hallmark in the Sept. 23 runoff. Hallmark led with 84 votes to McCants’ 57 votes. Robert Clayton Sr. trailed with 30 votes.

Mayor Woody Collins, District 1 Councilman Charles Jones Jr., District 2 Councilman Nathan Hardy, District 4 Councilwoman Dawn Newell Hewitt and District 5 Councilman Hugh Overmyer have already been voted into office by the city council because they drew no opposition.

The runoff election will be Sept. 23.
