A man from Eufaula has been charged with assault after a shooting left another man with a non-life-threatening injury. 

According to the Eufaula Police Department (EPD) officers responded to Medical Center Barbour on Oct. 4 regarding a male who sustained an injury from a gunshot. 

In the investigation Robert Lee Billings Jr., 31, was taken into custody on Oct. 6 and charged with assault in the first degree. Additionally, he was charged with certain persons forbidden. 

A statement from EPD said that the arrest marked a "positive step towards community safety and accountability."
