A man who was formerly the band director at Selma High School has been arrested and indicted on felony charges of sexual contact with a student.

According to WAKA, Dante Wright, 27, has been charged with being a school employee having sexual contact with a student and with sexual abuse in the first degree.

Selma police officers reportedly responded to the school in reference to a call about sexual assault in December 2023. They later learned that the incident allegedly took place in November.

A grand jury decided to indict Wright, leading to a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody but freed after posting a $21,000 bond.
