Heavy rainfall as a result of Hurricane Helene passing through is anticipated for most of Alabama, including the Black Belt, on early Friday though widespread severe weather is not expected.

A report from Alabama Emergency Management Agency said that widespread showers will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, with four to six inches of rain through Thursday night and into Friday.

Some flooding is possible and winds of up to 25-35 mph may occur on these days. The weather is expected to calm by Friday afternoon.

The public is advised to stay up to date with weather reports and take precautions as needed.
