A suspect has been arrested after human remains that were found in Demopolis earlier this month were identified. 

According to the Marengo County Leader the remains found on Powe Road in Demopolis were identified as Damon Lee Gibson, who was reported missing in August of 2022. He was 28-years-old. 

Gibson was last seen at a fitness center on U.S. 80 before going missing. 

Following the identification Demopolis police arrested Michael Steven Bozeman, 36, of Demopolis as a suspect in the murder of Gibson. He was arrested with assistance by agents from the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force.

Other assisting agencies in the case were Federal Bureau of Investigation, Texas Equusearch Midwest, 17th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, Jackson Police Department, Butler Police Department, Alabama Fusion Center and U.S. Homeland Security.
