Demopolis Police found human remains off Powe Road on Monday, according to a news release.
In a report first published by the Marengo County Leader on their Facebook page, a search conducted over several days led authorities to the Powe Road location where they found the remains.
Chief of Police Rex Flowers said in a news release Monday that the identity of the person has not yet been confirmed, but have been sent to the Alabama Forensic Science Lab for conformation.
Chief Flowers told the Marengo Leader his department was assisted in the investigation by Texas Equusearch Midwest, the FBI, Jackson Police Department, 17th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, Butler Police Department, Alabama Fusion Center and Homeland Security Investigations.
Flowers also thanked the community for giving information.
