The month of January is Special Clean-Up Day for residents of District 1 in Troy where the standard pickup fee will be waived for certain items.Â
Single-family residences can discard furniture, appliances, junk autos and others without the fee normally applied for oversized loads.Â
"Fence companies, tree surgeons, pulpwood contractors, nurseries and landscape contractors are to remove debris after completing work on private premises," said a statement from Troy Councilor Sharon McSwain-Holland, who represents District 1.Â
Items can be put out on regular garbage pickup days or by contacting 311 at 566-0177 to schedule pickups.Â
Residents, churches and civic groups are encouraged to plan neighborhood cleanups in January to effectively schedule personnel and equipment.Â
