Linden’s mayor will face a runoff as other city council seats were decided on Tuesday.
Incumbent Mayor Gwendolyn Rogers got 274 votes and will face Charles Moore, who got 201 votes. The third opponent in the mayor’s race, Joe Widener, got 81 votes.
As for the Linden City Council, in District 1 incumbent Jan Cannon was elected without opposition. In District 2, Bobby Jackson won with 58 votes to Tamika McCorvey’s 42 votes.
Incumbent Kelly Anthony took District 3 with 84 votes, while challenger Carl Lankser received 65 votes. In District 4, incumbent Barbara Jackson won with 63 votes compared to Richerd Lankster’s 47 votes.
Incumbent Vonda Wilson returned to her District 5 seat with 80 votes. Challenger Issaac Flippin received 31 votes.
The runoff will be Sept. 23.
The votes are unofficial until certified.
