Marina dredging first step in landing fishing dollars

The Selma City Council has appropriated $7,500 to dredge the Selma City Marina in what officials say is the first step in attracting tourism to the Queen City. 

Recent flooding deposited large amounts of silt in the marina basin, making the marina shallow and the outlet narrow.  

 “A lot of boats are kicking up mud; a lot are having a hard time getting in and out,” said  Selma City Councilman Carl Bowline. Bowline represents Ward 1, which encompasses the city marina.
