Marion Military Institute (MMI) alumnus and founder of Great Southern Wood Preserving has been featured in a Forbes video highlighting his life and achievements.

Great Southern Wood markets the "YellaWood" brand and has made Rane known for his "Yella Fella" persona in advertisements.

Rane graduated MMI in 1964. He has a 4-Star Order of the Crest, "representative of his unwavering support for this historic school in rural Alabama," said MMI in a post on Facebook.

The Forbes feature is titled "How Alabama’s Only Billionaire "Yella Fella" Jimmy Rane Saved His Hometown". It focuses on his efforts in promoting job growth in Abbeville where he opened a sawmill in 2019.
