Montgomery County and City Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Christina Thornton will retire on May 1 after nearly eight years. 

According to WAKA, Thornton is preparing the staff to handle operations after her departure. Wade Lyles, who currently serves as Deputy EMA Director, praised her knowledge and leadership. 

A replacement for Thornton has not yet been named.
