Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed introduced Frank Robinson as the new Director of Economic Development for the city during a press conference on Monday.Â
Reed said that Robinson has more than 20 years of experience in the field, including with corporate and nonprofit clients.Â
"He has extensive experience in articulating primary objectives for strategic plans for county and municipal governments, pursuing federal grant opportunities, construction management and sustainability planning," he stated.Â
"He has spearheaded new programs, orchestrated logistics for philanthropic events, engaged corporate volunteers and conducted economic impact and disparity studies, among many, many other initiatives."Â
He is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in political science He also hold an MBA with a focus on economic development from Eastern University and a master's in divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary.Â
"There's a lot that has been done, which I was pleased to see but a lot yet still to do," Robinson said. "I look forward to working with my colleagues, look forward to working with business owners and everyone who cares about the economic vitality and vibrancy of Montgomery."Â
He said that the department would continue to build in the downtown areas and develop retail and entertainment options, as well as "strengthening" small businesses, and recruiting medical and technology businesses.Â
Afterwards Reed spoke further and said that the city is looking to "underutilized and areas needing redevelopment" such as West Montgomery and the Normandale Shopping Center.Â
