The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a fire incident that has turned out to be a homicide. 

According to WSFA, the incident had been reported as a possible accident until an autopsy found that the victim was killed by gunshot. 

The fire took place at the 3500 block of Fairground Road around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, prompting a response from firefighters. The victim was found and later identified as Jacqueline Best, 39, of Montgomery.
