Firefighters were left baffled when they were called to rescue a sheep and three lambs that were stuck on a roof.
Firefighters from Penrith Fire Station were deployed Monday, June 9, after receiving a report of 'sheep stuck on a two-storey roof' 20 feet high.
After arriving at the scene, they located the animals on top of the building.
With assistance from a local farmer, the responding firefighters were able to rescue the animals using ladders and reaching poles before returning them to their field.
It hasn't been reported how the animals managed to climb onto the property.
A spokesperson for Penrith Fire Station said: "This animal rescue was a first for us.
"On route, we weren’t quite sure what we’d find when we arrived.
"On arrival, we found one sheep and three lambs stuck on a roof.
"The turnout information was 'sheep stuck on a two-story roof.'
"Fire crews used ladders and reaching poles, and along with a local farmer who came to assist, we safely got the sheep down and returned them to the field they’d come from."
