Hundreds of manatees huddled together in Florida to avoid the cold snap.

Volunteers counted 300 manatees gathered at Blue Spring State Park, Florida, on New Year's Eve, where they gathered to avoid the drop in temperatures.

Water temperatures in the area remain a steady 72 degrees all year round.

Images show the manatees huddled together while people swam around them to take a look.

In 2023, the Southern District of Florida completed a project at the property to stabilize the shoreline, which helps reduce erosion and restore critical manatee habitat.

Manatees use the springs for their consistent water temperature as a refuge on cold winter mornings.
