Selma police are investigating the city’s first murder of 2026.
Police were called to the 1800 block of Old Montgomery Highway on Jan. 2 around 10 p.m. and found Carloryd Moss, 30, of Selma suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have determined his death to be a murder and are investigating to “determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Chief Kenta Fulford said in a statement.
There is no suspect information available for release at this time, he added, saying additionaldetails will be provided as it “becomes available and when appropriate.”
“At this time, there is no known threat to the public/no additional information to suggest anongoing danger to the community,” the statement said.
Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Selma Police Departmentat 334-874-5894 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at thetip line 334-215- STOP.
“The Selma Police Department extends its condolences to the victim's family and asks thecommunity for patience and cooperation as the investigation continues,” Fulford said in the statement.
