A former WWII bunker converted into a modern home is on sale for $860,000.

The property in Bicester, Oxon. - once part of a nearby RAF site - now boasts two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a plush roof terrace.

Despite its modern renovation, the home still sits behind its original bold red brick exterior and is partly concealed by two large earth mounds - offering blast protection.

Originally, the shelter had 4ft thick walls and no windows, according to the City & Country development company, along with decontamination showers, air lock doors and a war room.

However, the property is now full of natural light with large rooflights and bifold doors which lead to its own private terrace.

Estate agents Fine & Country have listed the unique home for $860,000, and say it is "a nod to its historic military ancestry."
