The Perry County Commission will consider an estimated $84,000 worth of repairs to the historic county courthouse and the Judge Richard Avery Courthouse Annex.Â
The Perry County Courthouse was hit with flooding in the basement last week that forced the building to close. A failed sewage pump caused the Judge Richard Avery Courthouse Annex to close this week.Â
Additionally, the commission will also consider railing installation to provide accessibility in compliance with federal standards. The cost for this is $50,000.Â
The commission is set to hear from the AFS Foundation on the basement repairs and Reynolds Plumbing and Ross Plumbing on the Avery annex.Â
In his social media, Perry County Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr. said that the costs would not be budgeted, but would rather be drawn from the reserve fund.Â
