Perry County has received a $200,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) to replace culverts and storm water cross-drains in unincorporated parts of the county.

An announcement from Perry County Commission Albert Turner Jr. said that funds are being allocated from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for the projects and that this is the second grant from ADEM. 

The county has previously received a grant of $300,000 to address illegal dump sites on the roadways, said Turner's announcement. 

The latest grant was $148,717.75 with the county matching $52,052.21 for a total of $200,768.96.

"Perry County desires to enhance the environment and improve roadway safety," he said "Perry County's Engineer DeAndre Kimbrough headed the team that submitted the grant application and acknowledged the need to repair culverts and stormwater cross drains across the county."
