The T-pier at Roland Cooper State Park is being named after outdoors enthusiast James "Big Daddy" Lawler.

Officials will gather for a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 at the park in Camden to recognize the naming for Lawler, who passed away in February. Big Daddy was known for his popular radio and social media show Gettin' Outdoors with BDL.

Those expected to be there include Gov. Kay Ivy, a Camden native, Department of Conservation Commissioner Chris Blankenship, Camden Mayor Phil Creswell and others.

"Big Daddy embodied the true spirit of an outdoors enthusiast, conservationist and a staunch promotor of all nature-based adventures in Alabama's Black Belt," said one of the sponsors, Alabama Black Belt Adventures, on social media.
