The lights came on for more homes and businesses in Dallas County on Tuesday and early Wednesday as power crews continue to repair lines damaged in Hurricane Zeta last week.
In Dallas County, 3,400 are still without power after starting out with 20,000 in the dark when the storm hit overnight Oct. 29 with 50-60 mph winds. It has taken six days for some to get power returned.
Alabama Power said, "Line crews and support personnel continue to work around the clock to restore power to all customers affected by Hurricane Zeta. Fewer than 20,000 remain without power statewide. In central Alabama, 5,200 customers are without service."
Those outages exist in the following central Alabama areas:
Dallas County – 3,400 customers
Wilcox County – 900 customers
Chilton County – 450 customers
Perry County – 350 customers
With Tuesday being Election Day, Alabama Power said they worked closely with election officials throughout the day to verify that polling locations in its service territory had power.
