The No. 1 seed AISA Class AA Region 1 Lowndes Academy Rebels continued to roll toward a fourth straight state football championship with a 47-0 whipping of the Jackson Academy Eagles in an AISA round one playoff game at home Thursday night.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 10-0 overall and winning their 29th game in a row while downing the four seed 4-8 Eagles. The Rebels will next host the 9-2 two seed Patrician Academy Saints on Nov. 14.
“We started a little slow but finished strong,” said Lowndes Academy head football coach Shane Moye. He said it’s the playoffs, and his defense was outstanding as always. “Our defense coordinator (Matt Marshall) had a lot of blitzes dialed up, and we did a great job putting pressure on the quarterback,” Moye said.
The Rebels dominated every phase of the game against Jackson Academy, putting up 373 yards total offense to 70 for the Eagles. Lowndes went for 83 yards through the air but 290 yards on the ground.
Bradyn Stokes went two of three passing for 83 yards and two touchdowns; Huston Hampton rushed four times for 112 yards and three touchdowns; Crawford Dansby rushed three times for 28 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for 11 yards and a touchdown; Whit Holley caught one pass for 72 yards and a touchdown; Jeremy Hardy Jr. rushed 14 times for 101 yards.
Moye said Hardy reached 1,000 yards rushing yards on the season.
