Rural Health Medical Program celebrates new home ahead of 45th Anniversary

Rural Health ribbon cutting

Rural Health Medical Program, Inc. will celebrate its 45th year of service this October. What better way to walk into that except by a ribbon cutting marking the opening of their brand new location at 101 Park Place in Selma—bigger and better to house the growth over the years.

CEO Keshee Smith said she could not have done it without the board members, providers and staff.

“I love what I do. I serve because it’s a calling. I wake up each and every morning wanting to do better for the community that produced me. I am grateful.” she sincerely stated.

It was time to move. RHMPI had grown tremendously, including the newly added providers and staff members. Smith announced a few days ago, the addition of her Dental Staff, serving adult and pediatric patients and accepting new patients at the Demopolis and Selma locations.

She anticipated expansion quite some time ago, however, and began plans for the new location, with the design team assisting her every step of the way.

A past board member and first patient of RHMPI, Mr. Sherman Norfleet, summarized the history of the program in a speech to the audience. “I was the very first patient to be seen in 1978 in the clinic in Uniontown, Alabama. It was an old hospital. I’m so proud today to be a part of this celebration.”

Th ribbon cutting ceremony included a tour of the facility and a reception.
