A screening will be held by the Ordinary People Society (TOPS) and its partners for the HBO documentary "The Alabama Solution" on Sunday, Oct. 12.

The film will be screened in partnership with Alabama Values, Transform Alabama, Black Voters Matter, HICA, Lift Our Vote, and others. It depicts the lives of inmates in the Alabama prison system.

“The Alabama Solution is not just an ordinary film; it is a call to action, urging us to confront what we can no longer ignore," said TOPS Executive Director Rodreshia Russaw. "It serves as a humbling reminder that incarceration impacts us all across this great nation.”

The film was directed by Andrew Jarecki and produced by Charlotte Kaufman.

“Storytelling has always been one of our most powerful tools for survival," said Anneshia Hardy, Executive Director of Alabama Values. "By sharing their truths, the men inside are resisting the erasure of their humanity. And by carrying those stories forward, we are building a collective narrative of liberation, one that refuses to accept oppression as the norm in Alabama or anywhere else.”

The screening will be held at 1 p.m. at the George P. Evans Reception Hall on 2 Lawrence Street.
