Selma volleyball drops home match to Montevallo

The Selma High volleyball team hosted Montevallo on Monday evening but couldn’t overcome the Bulldogs’ strong play, falling in straight sets, 3-0. 

Montevallo set the tone early with a 25-11 win in the first set, then pulled away in the second with a dominant 25-6 performance. Selma battled in the third but ultimately dropped the set 25-10, sealing the match for the Bulldogs. 

The loss moved Selma to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in region play, while Montevallo improved to 10-4 on the season and remained unbeaten in its region. 

The Selma High volleyball team hit the road Saturday but came up short against Montevallo, falling 3-0 in a conference matchup played at the University of Montevallo. 

Montevallo controlled the match from the start, taking the first set 25-8. Selma fought harder in the second, putting up 13 points, but the Bulldogs stayed ahead and closed it out 25-13. The Saints tried to rally again in the third but couldn’t overcome Montevallo’s pace, dropping the final set 25-10. 

The loss moved Selma’s record to 1-3 overall. Montevallo improved to 9-4 and remains undefeated in its region.
