Troy Police Department (TPD) Administrative Bureau Deputy Chief Wayne Floyd retired on Dec. 31 after 40 years of service. 

The announcement was made yesterday by Mayor Jason A. Reeves, the Troy City Council and TPD Chief Danny Barron. 

According to The Troy Messenger, Floyd began as a patrol officer in 1984. Previously, he served six years in the Air Force. He also served in the Alabama Army National Guard for 16 years. 

During his time in the TPD he played roles as instructor for Tear Gas, SWAT training, Hostage Negotiator, Specialty Impact and Aerosol Projector Instructor, and Traffic Homicide Investigator among other positions before being promoted to Deputy Chief in the Administrative Bureau.
