The Uniontown City Council held a special called meeting Tuesday to address the appointment of a city clerk.

During the meeting, the council unanimously voted to appoint Cecily Turner to the position. Four candidates applied for the city clerk role.

Council members also discussed training for the incoming clerk. Outgoing City Clerk Alfreda Washington was asked to enter into a contract to assist with training the new clerk; however, she declined the request.

In additional discussion, Mayor Ronald Miller discussed staffing needs within the city and mentioned the possibility of offering an assistant position to former Mayor Jamaal Hunter. No formal action was taken on the matter during the meeting.
