As the arctic blast heads to the Black Belt Sunday through this week, communities have opened warming stations for those in need.
Marion -Â The City of Marion will utilize the Marion Depot as a warming station for citizens or visitors who lack essential heat and need a warm place or shelter during the anticipated winter weather. The Marion Depot is located at 1293 South Washington Street and will be open each day at 6 p.m. beginning Sunday through Wednesday at 12 p.m. Availability will vary as the weather permits travel to the location. Please bring blankets, pillows, personal medications, food, and other essential items. Intake staff and the Marion Police Department will be onsite.
Selma - The Winston Williams Homeless Shelter on Broad Street and Gospel Tabernacle church will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Wilcox County - Yellow Bluff Town Hall, Pine Hill City Hall, ABC Elementary in Alberta, Pine Apple United Methodist, Pine Grove Baptist in Alberta, Pleasant Grove Baptist in Boykin, Tates Community Church in Coy.
Montgomery - Campton Bowl Multiplex will be open Monday at noon through Thursday at noon. Volunteers are needed; call 334-625-2339 or email ema@montgomeryal.gov.
