The Wilcox Academy Wildcats are off to a great 2-0 start in the 2024 football season. 

The AISA Class AA Region 2 Wildcats took down regional opponent the Snook Christian Eagles 36-0 at home Friday night.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in regional play.

For the Wildcats, J.P. Beck rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns on five carries. He also passed for two 2-point conversions, one to Turner Jordan and one to Andrew Malone.

Also, for Wilcox, Julian Curry also rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown. Harrison Travis scored on a 9- yard touchdown run. Braxton Ray rushed for 58 yards. Jordan also had 38 yards rushing and kicked one extra point. J.J. Sessions added another extra point.

Steele Swanner led the Wildcats on defense with 11 tackles followed by Lee Hollinger with nine tackles.

“The team played well in very wet conditions,” said Wilcox Academy Head football coach and Athletic Director Lebo Jones. “It was a good night. Everyone got in the game and played a significant amount of time.”

Jones added, “We have a very tough region game against Jackson Academy next Friday in Camden.”
